1930s black satin and velvet evening gown

A truly elegant evening dress, this gown has been carefully and lovingly constructed in satin, velvet, lace and sequins. Details include a cutaway bodice with lace inserts, sequinned neckline and straps (with four tiny bra strap holders), metal side zip, a gently flaring skirt that ends in a velvet cutaway band that has lace inserts echoing the bodice detail. Date: probably 1930s (the previous owner suggested this date, based on a special occasion for which her mother wore the gown), certainly vintage
Size: approx. Size 10UK/6US (see Size Guide)
Fabric: satin (possibly rayon), velvet, lace, sequins
Measurements: (taken from garment laid flat with measurement doubled)
Armpit to armpit: 89 cm/35 inches
Waist: 76 cm/ 30inches

Condition: Good vintage condition (see the Vintage Clothing Condition Guide for more information) In a handful of places there are tiny holes in the lace in the hem, but these are very difficult to see. At the back, the lace in the bodice has come away from the velvet in a couple of places, but this has been repaired and does not affect the wearabiity of the dress at all.
